Greetings Sublette County Homeschoolers!!

A quick note from Sarah M.:

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a fantastic summer.  Can’t believe school is upon us already…

I’d like to propose a potluck to kick off our year, on Friday Sept 7 at the town park in Pinedale.  If it rains, we can meet at the church building (Church of the Resurrection) on N Franklin Street, next to Moosely Mailboxes.

Please bring your own meat/sandwiches and a side to share (chips. salad, dessert, drinks), plus enough cups/plates/napkins/utensils for your family.  Kids can play and parents can talk about what we’d like to see this year – field trips, get togethers for moms, etc.

I’d really like to encourage you folks who have high school age kids to come too, so you can meet and see if there are activities you would like to organize for your older ones.

Anyone interested in helping me out with this, please let me know!  If we are outside, it might be fun to have some organized games for the kids.

The Latest Homeschool Info from Sublette County

REMINDER:  The Curriculum Sharing Day is June 1 from 2-4 pm, in the Lovatt Room at the library.  Bring your favorite curriculum so we can peruse what we are all using and maybe get some ideas for next year.  If you know anyone who is considering home school, please let them know about this event as well.

SUMMER PROJECT:  Hope you don’t mind, but I have accepted a journal from the library for our home school group.  They have launched a journal project for Sublette County, ours is one of 100+ books out there, and they would like us to put in some entries about what we are doing this summer.  This could include a photo of your family at a particular activity and a description of it.  If anyone is eager to be the first to make an entry, let me know.  Otherwise, I will do it and pass it along to another family – and hopefully everyone will have a chance to fill a few pages.  The journal is due in mid-Aug – don’t yet have a date.  The library has a sample journal – check it out next time you are there for some ideas. Mock Homeschool Convention in Rock Springs

ATTENTION SOUTHWEST WYOMING HOMESCHOOLERS!!

Hi everyone!

There will be a “Mock” Home-School Convention on June 23rd from 10-3.   It will be held in Rock Springs at the E Free church (125 Firestone Rd.).  I have information sheets and registration forms if you are interested, and will be bringing them to Pinedale for the Mountain Man Museum field trip.  Please let me know if you would like a copy.

Registration is due by June 1st.  (There will be a curriculum and book swap/sale in the afternoon.  If you are interested and would like to bring materials for sale or swap, you will need to let the ladies in charge know by June 1st.)

Thursday, March 19, a group of our Sublette County Homeschoolers presented a program to the residents of the Sublette Center in Pinedale. Students presented poems, instrumental numbers and songs for the enjoyment of the folks there.

Buy or Sell Used Curriculum at the Homeschoolers of Wyoming Convention

You may buy or sell used curriculum at the Homeschoolers of Wyoming Convention. The convention will be held May 11 and 12 at College Heights Baptist Church in Casper. The sale will be Saturday, May 12, from noon until 1 p.m. People wishing to sell curriculum may set up from 11:30-12 and will work their own tables this year. There is not a charge for a table space, but donations will be accepted and put with HOW\\\\\\\’s donation to College Heights Baptist Church for use of their buildings.
